CO2 emission cost component - effects on fuel surcharge and tolls
At the beginning of 2025, changes will come into force that will affect both the fuel surcharge and toll costs. Below we provide yout with an overview of the upcoming changes.
From January 1, 2025, the truck toll in Austria will be increased by 12.5 %. This is partly due to the 67 % increase in integrated CO2 emission costs in the toll structure.
CO2 prices, which have a significant influence on the fuel surcharge, are also rising. in comparision:
2024 | 2025 |
EUR 45,- per ton of CO2 | EUR 55,- per ton of CO2 |
This corresponds to an increase of around 22 %. This cost increase is passed on to the diesel price and has a direct impact on the fuel surcharge, which we have to pass on to our customers. We will continue to provide you with the current price overview in the usual form here on our website.
CO2 pricing in Austria is part of national emissions certificate trading, which has been in place since 2022. The aim is to promote climate-friendly transportation and reduce transport sector emissions.
We understand that these developments can be challenging. However, we would like to emphasize that these changes are not decided by us as a company. The CO2 emission cost component and the toll increase are determined by legal requirements and national climate policy.
